사고를 내는 자와 당하는 자의 차이점

나는 이번 일본 교토 여행을 통해 일본인을 포함 서구인들과 많은 대화를 나눴다. 그중에서도 이미 세
계적 이슈가 된 이태원 사고를 계기로, 예고 없이 발생하는 두 종류의 사고에 관한 얘기를 나눴다. 먼저
사고를 많이 내는 사람들에 대한 그들의 의견이 나에게 많은 생각을 하게 했다. 그것을 간추려 보았다.
사람이 일으키는 사고에는, 크든 작든 반드시 그 원인 역시 그들에게 있다는 생각이 주류였다. 선택의
자유와 권리를 누리되, 결과의 책임도 자신의 몫이라는 기본 교육이 몸에 밴듯한 인상을 받았다. 책임이
란 단어를 많이 사용했다. 사고뭉치들의 공통점에는 다음과 같은 특성이 있다. (나 자신도 여러 사고를
겪어 봤지만, 그 원인은 역시 나에게 있었다. 아래의 항목에 포함돼 있다.)
1. 공동체 생활에 대한 기본 룰(법과 질서)을 지키지 않는다.
2. 남에게 폐를 끼치는 것을 대수롭지 않게 생각한다.
3. 세상에 공짜가 없다는 가장 평범한 진리조차 깨닫지 못한다.
4. 혈연, 지연, 학연 등을 우선시하는 성향이 너무 강하다.
5. 자국에 도움을 주는 나라와 피해를 주는 나라를 구분 못 한다.
6. 은혜를 원수로 갚는 패륜적 심성을 가졌다.
7. 사기, 위증, 무고 등 거짓과 가짜가 너무 많다.
8. 자신의 삶을 스스로 책임지는 주인 의식이 없다.
9. 이성보다는 감성을, 행동보다는 말을 더 믿는 천박성이 있다.
10. 자신의 잘못을 남 탓으로 돌리는 데에 익숙하다.
11. 비속어 등, 저질스런 욕설을 즐기듯이 마구 사용한다.
12. 권리만 주장하고 책임은 지지 않는 소아병적 증상이 있다.
13. 학력도 높고 IQ도 높고 눈치도 빠르지만 속는 데도 일등이다.
14. 공과 사 그리고 이상과 감성을 구분할 능력도 의지도 없다.
15. 귀가 얇아서 남의 말에 이끌리는 쏠림 현상이 너무 심하다.
16. 근자감과 자신은 예외라는 요행심과 설마병이 도를 넘는다.
17. 게을러서 꼭 필요한 정보와 지식을 스스로 찾지 못한다.
18. 국제 사회와 정치에 관심이 없는 우물안 개구리다.
19. 수출은 원하지만, 수입은 반대하는 이율배반의 전형이다.
20. 자신만이 가장 억울하다는 피해의식의 노예가 되어 있다.

Accidents will happen anytime, anywhere.
The difference between the person who causes the incident and the person who gets the accident.

I had a lot of talks with Westerners, including Japanese, while staying in Kyoto, Japan. Among
them, in the wake of the Itaewon incident, which has already become world news, I asked many
questions about two types of accidents that occur without notice. First, their opinions about people
who cause a lot of accidents made me think a lot. I summarized it.
The mainstream of our talks was the idea that human accidents, big or small, must also be caused
by them. I got the impression from them that everyone has the freedom and rights to choose, but
the responsibility for the consequences is also theirs. They used the word responsibility a lot. The
common grounds of the troublemakers were as follows. (I've been through many accidents myself,
but I could see that the causes of the accidents were also by me. It's included in the items below.)
1. They don't keep by the basic order and rules of community life.
2. They have no sense of saying, "sorry" if they bother others.
3. They don't even realize the most common truth that nothing is free in the world.
4. They have a strong tendency to prioritize blood ties, local ties, and school ties.
5. They can't tell which countries are helping their countries or not.
6. They have a bad spirit of repaying grace with evil.
7. They are too good at lying, such as fraud, perjury, fake news and false accusations
8. They have no sense of responsibility to manage their own lives.
9. They have a property of believing in emotions rather than reason and words more than actions.
10. They are used to blaming others for their false.
11. They use profanity and other vulgar language as if they enjoy it.
12. They have pediatric symptoms that claim only rights and are not responsible.
13. They are gullible though they have high educational background and high IQ. Because they are
nothing but useful idiots.
14. They can't distinguish between public and private and reason and emotion.
15. They are thin-eared, so they show a tendency of the slave to be attracted by other people's
words.
16. They have groundless confidence and believe in the fluke that they are exceptions.
17. They are too lazy to find the infor and knowledge they need on their own.
18. They are frogs in the well who are not interested in international society and politics.
19. They show a contradictory duality in which they want to export but oppose imports.
20. They have a bad sense of victimhood that only they had been used by others.
