20110523월 노무현 추종자들에게 1118
18대 대통령 선거를 1년 남짓 앞둔 이 시점에서 노무현 당을 꿈꾸는 자들이 있다기에 내 의견을 몇 마디 개진할 수밖에 없구나. 너희도 알다시피 나는 그의 임기 중에 단 한 번도 그의 이름에 ‘대통령’이라는 한 마디를 붙여본 적이 없어. 왜? ‘노무현’하고는 ‘대통령’이라는 말이 뒤따라 나오지를 않았기 때문에! 물론 나는 그의 졸도들에게 욕은 많이 먹었지. 그러나 나를 잡아다 가두지도 않았고 ‘노사모’가 나에게 폭행을 가한 적도 없어. 물론 각오는 하고 있었지만 그런즉 나는 나에게 아무런 피해도 주지 않았고 스스로 목숨을 끊었어. 돈 때문인지, 여자 때문인지, 자존심 때문인지, 나는 그 사정을 잘 모르지만, 그것도 국민 앞에, 역사 앞에, 큰 잘못이었어. 일국의 대통령을 지낸 자가 그래선 안 되지.
나는 박정희∙전두환 시대에 죽을 고생을 다 했다. 징역이 15년이야. 학교에선 쫓겨났고, 연세 대학의 총장도 한 번 못해보고 오늘 이렇게 늙었어. 그러나 나는 사실을 사실대로 말한다. 박정희가 포항제철을 만들고 국가 경제의 바탕을 마련하였다고 그를 칭찬한다. 전두환이 우리나라 역사상 처음으로 국제 수지의 흑자를 나타냈고, 88 올림픽을 서울에 유치한 그 사실을 나는 높이 평가하며 그에게 경의를 표한다. 그래서 그를 위해 냉면 파티도 한 번 크게 열어주었다.
이 사람들아, 노무현이 잘한 일이 뭐야. 있으면 조목조목 적어서 나에게 가져다 보여줘. 혹시 내가 생각을 바꾸게 될지 누가 알겠나. 제발 고갯세하며 설치고 다니지 마. 이명박 때문에 흔들흔들 하는 이 나라를 더 흔들어 놓을 참인가. 이번엔 집단 자살이라도 할 것인가.
