 불법시위에 세금지원 말이 되나 화난 이李대통령 보조금 회수하라

최근 불법시위 가담 시민단체에 정부 보조금이 지급된 사실과 관련,〈본지 17일자 A2면〉 이명박 대통령이 "실상을 철저히 따져 회수할 보조금은 회수하고, 앞으로는 공익성 있는 사업·단체에 지원토록 해야 한다"고 말한 것으로 23일 전해졌다.

여권 고위관계자에 따르면, 이 대통령은 지난 17일 '광우병국민대책회의 소속 74개 시민단체가 공익사업 명목으로 올해 8억여 원의 보조금을 배당받아 이미 6억여 원을 받아갔다'는 내용의 기사를 읽고 "불법폭력 반(反)정부 시위에 국민 세금이 지원되는 것이 말이 되느냐"며 시정을 지시했다고 한다. 이 대통령은 또 이 기사를 보고 "말이 안 되는 일"이라며 크게 화를 냈다고 이 관계자는 전했다.

관련자료를 냈던 한나라당 신지호 의원은 당시 "불법시위 단체에 지급된 보조금은 전액 환수하고, 향후 일정기간 보조금을 받을 수 없도록 비영리 민간단체지원법을 개정해야 한다"고 주장했다. 그러나 여권 관계자는 "정부와 경찰청은 해당 시민단체들이 폭력시위에 직접 가담했는지, 지원금을 당초 목적 외로 전용했는지 밝혀내는 데 어려움을 겪고 있어 실제 회수는 힘들 것 같다"며 "관련 시민단체들도 '보조금 회수'에 다양한 방법으로 저항하고 있으며, 지난 10년간 익숙해진 여러 가지 정부지원에 문제가 생길까 우려하는 것으로 안다"고 말했다.
