 “北트위터 친북인사가 운영”
 “북한당국이 직접 운영하진 않을 것”

북한의 트위터계정으로 알려진 계정이 북한당국이 아닌, 해외에 거주하는 친북인사가 운영하는 계정일 수 있다는 주장이 제기됐다.

 
미국 경제전문지 포브스의 테일러 불리(Taylor Buley) 기자는 24일 포브스 블로그를 통해 “북한 대외문화연락위원회의 알레한드로 카오 데 베노스 특사가 이 트위터 계정이 북한 당국의 계정이 아니라는 주장을 했다”고 전했다.

 
여기에 따르면, 베노스 특사는 불리 기자와의 이메일 인터뷰에서 ‘북한이 트위터나 유튜브, 페이스북 등 SNS(소셜 네트워크 서비스) 이용을 금지하고 있다’고 밝혔다. 그러면서 ‘최근 한국과 미국에서 논란이 된 트위터 계정은 북한 당국자가 아닌 중국과 일본에 사는 친북 성향 지지자들이 운영하는 계정’이라고 말했다.

 
베노스 특사는 “모든 종류의 IT 기반 커뮤니케이션은 북한에는 흥미로운 대상”이라며 “하지만 그런(트위터 같은 SNS) 웹사이트가 정부에 의해 직접 운영되지는 않을 것”이라고 했다.

 
또 “북한의 현실에 대해서는 오보와 추측이 가득하다”며 “이것을 스스로 민주주의적이라고 부르지만 사실은 우리의 영향을 두려워하는 국가들의 위선”이라고도 했다.

 
한편 문제의 계정은 당초 북한의 대남기구 조국평화통일위원회(조평통)가 개설해 체제선전에 이용하는 것으로 알려졌었다.

 
이에 정부당국은 계정의 접속을 차단했으며, 미국의 국무부 공보담당 차관보가 이와 관련한 논평을 내는 등 파문이 일었다.
