 윤석열 국정원의 본질적 책무는 우리의 자유를 수호하는 것
 "북한 정권 오판·도발 무력화...국가안보에 빈틈 허용 안 돼"

윤석열 대통령이 24일 국가정보원을 방문해 "국가정보원의 본질적 책무는 우리의 자유를 수호하는 
것"이라고 밝혔다. 소위 좌파 정권이 들어설 때마다 이른바 '대북포용책'의 선봉에 나서 통일부와 비슷
하게 대북 접촉 창구 노릇을 했던 국정원에 대해 윤 대통령이 그 조직의 존재 이유를 강조한 것이다. 

 
윤석열 대통령은 이날, 취임 후 처음으로 국정원을 방문해 "대한민국 정보기관은 세계 최고를 지향해야 
한다"며 "정보에서 2등, 3등은 의미가 없다. 여러분에게 그런 것을 기대한다"고 격려했다. 또한 "대한민
국 자유 수호의 최후의 보루 역할을 하는 정보기관 직원의 자세와 마음가짐은 남달라야 한다"고 주문했
다. 

 
윤석열 대통령은 또 "일하는 방식과 근무태도 역시 여타 국가기관 공무원과 달라야 한다"며 "거대한 제
방도 작은 개미굴에 의해 무너지듯 국가안보 수호에 한 치의 빈틈도 허용해서는 안 된다"고 말했다. 북
한 문제와 관련해서는 "북한 정권의 오판과 도발을 무력화하고 글로벌 정보전에서 당당히 경쟁할 수 있
는 역량을 보여주기 바란다"고 강조했다.


윤석열 대통령은 김규현 국정원장과 1·2·3 차장, 기조실장 등 국정원 간부들로부터 2023년도 업무계획
을 보고받았다. 해외·북한 정보 및 방첩·대테러·사이버 안보 등 국가정보원 업무 전반에 대한 주요 현안
과 추진계획 등이 상세히 보고됐다.
