From February 1965 until his assassination in 1979, President Park Chung-hee attended nearly
every monthly meeting of the country’s export-promotion committee, sampling products and
rallying businessmen over lunch. He cried when South Korea’s exports exceeded $100m in 1964,
declaring a national holiday known as “export day” (later renamed “trade day”).〱Welcome to the

1965년 2월에서 1979년 弑害(시해)당할 때 까지 박정희 대통령은 전국 수출 진흥위원회 월간회의에 거의
빠짐없이 참석하여 생산품들을 살펴보고 점심을 같이 먹으면서 기업인들을 격려하였다. 대통령은 1964년
에 한국 수출액이 1억 달러를 초과하였을 때 울었다. 그리고 “수출의 날”로 알려진 이 날을 국경일로 선포
하였다.(後에 “무역의 날”로 재지명하였다)

동서고금의 역사에서 국민을 먹여 살리기 위하여, 국민을 잘 살게 하기 위하여, 가난의 한을 풀어주기 위
하여, 이토록 눈물을 흘리며 분투하였던 국가최고지도자는 없었을 것이다. 적어도 5000년 한국의 역사에
서는 없었다. 지금도 없고 이후로도 없을 것이다. 또다시 5000년이 흘러도 이렇게 거룩한 국가원수는 나타
나지 않을 것 같다
