 좁은나라에서 넓게살기 위한 개각
 

정운찬 전 서울대 총장이 

총리후보자로 내정됐습니다. 

또 한나라당에서 정치인 3명이 내각명단에 

들어갔습니다. 

 
대폭이 아닌 중폭이라 '드라마성'은 

떨어지는 감은 있지만 

나름 의미있는 모양새라고 생각됩니다. 

 
무엇보다 '간판스타'역인 정운찬카드는 

저는 꽤 괜찮다고 생각됩니다. 

특히 그동안 한나라당에 입당하지 않는다,

한나라당에 대해 그리 곱지 않은 눈으로 

보던 분이기에 더 좋다고 생각합니다. 


저 역시 한나라당에 들어오기 전에 

그랬습니다. 

가끔 한나라당이 탄핵의 역풍으로 

원폭투하 맞은 것처럼 '폐가'상태였기에

다들 별 말씀 안하셨지 않았나--

그래서 저는 더 열심히 한나라당을 위해 

일할 수 있었습니다. 

 
원래 밖에 있으면 자유롭습니다. 

영혼도 몸도 자유롭습니다. 

그리고 학자나 언론인등은 비판적 시각을 

늘 지닐 수 밖에 없습니다. 

저 역시 그랬습니다. 


 이 땅에 자유민주주의와 시장경제를 

가치로 내건 정당 한나라당에 대한 

애정이 있었기에 그랬다고 생각됩니다. 

 
그런 점에서 한나라당에 대해 

또 이명박 정부에 대해 비판적 시각을 지닌

총리후보-전 환영할 일이라고 생각됩니다. 

 
좁은 나라아닙니까?

그러나 넓게 살아야 합니다.  

하지만 크게, 멀리, 그리고 세계를 향해 

우리는 나아가야만 살아남을 수 있습니다.

비판적 시각을 가진 이는 

그 비례하는 열정 또한  지니고 있습니다. 

미국의 역사학자 폴 케네디는 

'일본의 미래는 어둡다. 

왜? 일본은 늘 같은 사람하고,

늘 아는 사람하고만 일하기 때문이다'라고 말한 적이 있습니다. 


정치란 자신이 싫어하는 사람을 

만날 수 있는 능력입니다. 

동시에 자신과 다른 사람을 

포용하고 쓸 수 있는 능력이기도 합니다. 

 
그런 점에서 이번 개각-

큰 기대를 지니고 맞이합니다.
