 전여옥 의원 폭행 민가협 전 대표 구속
 법원 "사안이 중하고 증거인멸 염려 있다"

한나라당 전여옥 의원 폭행에 가담한 혐의로 구속영장이 신청된 前 민가협 상임의장 조순덕(58.여) 씨가 결국 구속됐다. 

18일 서울 남부지방법원은 조 씨에 대한 구속영장을 발부했다. 이날 법원은 “국회의원의 입법 활동에 불만을 품고 국회 내에서 폭력을 행사해 상해를 입힌 행위는 의회민주주의를 부정하는 처사로 결코 사안이 가볍다고 할 수 없다”며 “사안이 중하고 증거를 인멸한 염려가 있다”고 영장발부 사유를 밝힌 것으로 전해진다. 

구속된 조 씨는 한총련 소속으로 모 대학 총학생회장이었던 아들이 수배된 이후 국가보안법 폐지를 위한 활동에 나서온 것으로 알려져 있다. 특히 간첩 또는 빨치산 출신의 이른바 비전향장기수들을 적극 뒷바라지 해온 인물로 소개되어 있다. 

한편 민가협은 같은 날 성명을 내고 조 씨의 석방을 촉구했다. 

민가협은 “사건 당일 조순덕 상임의장은 전여옥 의원에게 항의하고자 국회를 방문한 것이 아니다. 그와 별개로 시민사회 대표들과 함께 정세균 민주당 대표를 면담하기 위해 국회를 방문하였고, 면담을 기다리던 중 우연하게 소란에 휘말리게 된 것”이라고 주장했다. 

이들은 법원의 영장발부 사유가 “매우 단순한 사건을 의회 민주주의의 근간을 뒤 흔드는 중대 사건으로 과장하는 것”이라며, “과장되고 편향된 수사를 중단하고 조순덕 전 상임의장을 당장 석방하라”고 말했다.
