전원책의 보수이야기 342신 성대 교수 한 분이 오늘 또 나를 공격했습니다
이 분 재미있더군요. 국방비를 줄이고 복지를 하자는 겁니다. 그리고 내가 보편적 복지를 '급진좌파'정책이라고 규정한 게 못마땅한 모양이지요. 그런데 무상급식, 무상보육, 무상의료, 사립대 등록금 국가부담,등은 사민주의자들조차 깜짝 놀랄 급진좌파 정책들인 게 맞습니다. 사회주의자들은 산업의 국유화를 주장합니다. 대중교통과 교육서비스는 마르크스부터 누진세 중앙은행과 함께 독일정부에 요구한 겁니다. 20세기 사민주의자들은 통신, 의료서비스까지 모든 시민들에게 '공통적으로' 제공하려 합니다. 이른바 보편적 복지입니다. 그러나 서구는 혹독한 '실패'를 확인한 뒤 '제3의 길'이 상징하는 바처럼 '무지한 복지의 수렁'에서 빠져나옵니다. 급진좌파 중 '시민적 공동체주의'를 외치는 마이클 센델은 오늘날의 시민은 자신이 기대한 '공동체적 목표에 관심을 가진 덕성'을 가진 시민이 아니라, 개인의 목표에 관심을 가질 뿐이라고 개탄합니다. 그래서 센델조차 '전국적 복지국가'를 비판하지요.
