[뉴스파인더 박남오 기자] 새누리당 중앙선대위 정몽준 공동선대위원장을 맡은 정몽준 전 대표는 12일 이재오 의원의 선대위 합류와 관련해 “박근혜 후보도 (이 의원 합류를 위해) 더 노력해야 된다”고 말했다.

  
정 전 대표는 이날 여의도 당사에서 다른 공동선대위원장들과 함께한 기자간담회에서 “제가 (이재오 의원을) 뵐 때마다 같이 일하자고 말하고 있다. 이재오 선배도 함께 할 생각이 있다고 본다”며 이같이 말했다.

  
그는 최근 당내 ‘인적쇄신론’ 갈등에 대해서는 “대선이 굉장히 중요한데 선거를 준비하면서 과연 새누리당이 지금 최선의 모습인가 걱정하는 당원과 의원이 많이 있었던 것 같다”며 “그런 의견이 있었다는 것은 상당히 좋은 현상이다. 다양한 의견 수렴이 잘 돼서 발전 동력으로 가는 과정이라고 생각한다”고 밝혔다.

  
그는 간담회에 앞서 열린 중앙선대위 임명장 수여식 및 상견례 자리에서 “격변하는 국제정세 속에서 이번 대선의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다”며 “우리나라를 이만큼 이끌어온 것에 대한 자부심과 미래에 대한 커다란 책임감을 같이 느끼며 꼭 승리해 살기좋은 나라를 만들어야 한다”고 강조했다.
