우리는 이러다 망하는 겁니까
작금에 벌어진 일련의 사태는 국민으로 하여금 일종의 위기감에 사로잡히게 합니다. 이명박 정권의 애매모호한 태도는 이미 알려진 사실이라 하겠습니다마는 최근에 와서 오바마 정권도 이랬다저랬다 하니 더욱 혼란스러울 뿐입니다. “북이 핵무기를 포기하기 전에는 6자 회담에건 4자 회담에건 응할 수 없다”는 것이 일관된 미국의 대북정책인 줄 알고 있었는데 요새는 그 원칙이 무너진 듯한 느낌입니다.
천안함의 폭침과 연평도 무차별 포격이 있은 뒤 한국 정부의 대북자세는 매우 강경한 바 있었고 그때만은 우리나라 지도층의 사리판단이 분명하였습니다. 오늘은 어떻습니까. 이런 상황에서도, 아니 이런 상황이기 때문에, 이명박은 김정일을, 모든 잘못을 불문에 붙이고, 꼭 만나서 ‘한반도의 평화’를 논의하겠다는 겁니까. 비밀리에 교섭을 했다고 북의 방송을 도맡아 하는 토치카처럼 생긴 여성이 입에 거품을 물고 떠들었습니다.
2018년에 강원도 평창에서 겨울 올림픽을 훌륭하게 치룰 수 있기를 바라지만 그럴 수 있기 위하여 필수 불가결의 조건은 대한민국이 건재해야 한다는 것입니다. 중국 시인 두보가 탄식했듯 “나라는 깨어졌으나 산과 강은 그대로 있고, 초목만 우거진 도성이여”하게 되면 어디서 겨울 올림픽을 치르게 될 것입니까. 대한민국이 무너지면 우리는 다 죽은 목숨입니다.
