 내 사랑은 자존심보다 강했다

'우물쭈물 하다가 내 이럴 줄 알았다'
그 유명한 버너드 쇼의 묘비명에 새겨진 글이라고 하죠. 

지난 꽤 길고 길어 '이것도 하고 저것도 하리라, 싹~'했던 

우리의 연휴계획이 

다 이렇게 한 글귀로 마무리됐죠.

그래도 좀 쉬었더니 머리도 잘 돌아가고 발걸음도 가벼워졌습니다. 

 
 게다가 어제 국회 손바닥만한 체련실에서 뛰었는데 

생각보다 속도도 나고 괜찮았습니다. 

 그러나 '여야 국회 정상화 합의 백지화'라는 

뉴스를 보니 갑자기 기운이 쭉 빠지더군요.

지금 국민들의 생활은 말이 아닌데 

이 국회는 서로 기싸움하고 자존심싸움하는 셈입니다. 

 
민주당은 대통령의 사과부터 당의 자존심을 

의총에서 강조했었나 봅니다. 

답답하기 그지 없는 일입니다. 

국회라는 곳은 왜 만들었습니까?

국회의원은 왜 되겠다고 그렇게 고된 선거를 

치렀습니까?

 
다 국회에서 국민의 대리인이 되어 
국민들의 생활을 더 편안하고

따뜻하게 하겠다는 것이었습니다. 

그런데 자존심싸움이니 기싸움으로 

국회가 '올스톱'되는 것-

오만한 일입니다. 

국민의 대리인이 어떻게 '대리인노릇'을 

이런 상황에서 방기한다는 말인지-

도무지 이해할 수가 없습니다. 

 
이번 임시국회는 정말 할일이 많습니다. 

세비는 월급이 아니라 수당이라고 합니다. 

즉 국민을 위해 일할 때 받을 수 있는 것입니다. 

국회에서 몸싸움하는 모습보다 

더 국민에게 심려를 끼치는 것은 

국회를 거부하는 것입니다. 

 
이런 말도 있습니다. 
'내 사랑은 자존심보다 더 강했다'

국민에 대한 존경, 존중, 사랑이 있다면 

그깟 자존심 접는다해도 

뭐라 할 사람 없습니다. 

사랑앞에서 자존심 흔들려 본 기억처럼 

국민앞에서 정파나 당파의 자존심을 

접어도 되는 데 말입니다.
