 돌아오는 외규장각 도서
 144년만에 5년단위 대여갱신 형태로.

 국방상 안전하고 보다 체계적으로 자료들을 관리 할 목적으로 1781년에 세원진 것이 외규장각이다.

1776년 창덕궁에 설립된 규장각의 분소와 같은 성격이엇는데 병인양요로 불 타 없어지기까지 1천 7종, 5천67책이 소장 돼 있었고 그 중 타지 않은 일부다.

 
1975년 국립도서관 사서로 일하던 박병선씨가 베르사이유 별관 파손 창고에서 처음 발견, 세상에 알려 졌다.

그 후 1992년 주불 한국대사관이 외규장각 도서반환을 요청하면서  양국간에 논의되기 시작했다.

 
이번 서울 G20 정상회의를 기해  프랑스 대통령이 대여 형식으로 한국에 돌려 주기로 결정 했다.

이명박 대통령과 프랑스의 사르코지 대통령은 12일 프랑스가 1866년 병인양요때 프랑스가 약탈해 간 외규장각 도서 297권을 144만에 한국으로 돌아오개 하는데 합의 했다.

 
사르코지 대통령을 설득하는데 많은 공을 세운  프랑스 하원 의원은 

형식은 대여지만 외규장각 도서는 한국에 계속 남아 있게 될 것이라고 했다.

5년에 한번씩 대여시기를 연장 할 수 있기 때문이다.

 
외규장각 도서는 일괄 대여 형식으로 한국 중앙박물관에 이관 될 것이며 그에 대한 후속 논의가 시작 될 것이다.

우리의 문화재임이 틀림없는데 당당하게 돌려 받아야 한다는 문화계의 그동안의 반발로 인해 약간의 논란은 예상 된다.
