리우올림픽 손연재 예선 앞두고 선수촌 입성… 메달권 진입 목표

대한민국 리듬체조 국가대표 손연재(22)가 16일(한국시간) 브라질 리우데자네이루에 입성했다.
지난달 28일부터 브라질 상파울루에서 적응 훈련을 진행했던 손연재는 19일부터 열리는 리듬체조 개인종합 예선을 앞두고 올림픽 선수촌에 짐을 풀었다.
2012년 런던 올림픽에서 개인 종합 5위, 2014년 인천 아시안게임 금메달 등 자신의 가치를 증명한 손연재는 올시즌 국제체조연맹이 주최하는 월드컵에 여섯 차례 출전해 성장한 모습을 보였다.
세계 랭킹 4위에 올라있는 손연재는 이번 대회에서 러시아 대표팀의 벽을 넘고 메달권에 진입하는 것이 목표다.
2000년 시드니 올림픽부터 2012년 런던 올림픽까지 4회 연속 리듬체조 개인종합 금메달리스트를 배출한 러시아 대표팀은 올해 국제체조연맹 세계 랭킹에서 손연재 보다 상위에 링크된 1~3위 선수들을 모두 보유하고 있다.
