일본 정부가 현재의 원전 가동 중단 사태가 지속할 경우 내년에 전국적으로 10% 정도의 전기요금 인상이 불가피할 것으로 전망했다.
21일 일본 언론에 의하면 에다노 유키오(枝野幸男) 경제산업상은 이날 도쿄시내 강연에서 원전의 가동 중단이 지속될 경우 내년엔 전국적으로 전기요금을 10% 정도 인상해야 하는 상황이라고 밝혔다.
그는 원전의 가동이 중단되면서 이를 대신할 화력발전을 위한 연료비가 증가하고 있어 전국적으로 전기요금 인상이 불가피하다고 말했다.
후쿠시마(福島) 제1원전 운영사인 도쿄전력은 이미 오는 7월부터 가정용 전기요금을 10.28% 올리기로 하고 정부에 승인을 요청했다.
일본에서는 작년 3월 후쿠시마 제1원전 사고 이후 운전이 가능한 50기의 원전이 모두 가동을 멈췄다.
경제산업성 산하 자원에너지청은 원전의 '가동 제로'가 지속할 경우 2030년에는 전기요금이 현재의 약 2배에 달할 것으로 예상했다.
