“지난 1년여 동안 군 ‘정신전력 강화를 위한 최고 교육기관 설립’을 목표로, 열과 성을 다해 온 합동군사대학교 총장과 군 관계관 여러분의 노고를 치하합니다. 앞으로 국방정신전력원이 우리 장병들의 정신전력을 더욱 높여서 전투형 강군 육성의 디딤돌이 되기를 기대합니다. 합동군사대학교 전 장병들에게 무한한 신뢰를 보내며, 국방정신전력원의 무궁한 발전을 기원합니다. 2013년 12월1일  대통령 박근혜”

 박근혜 대통령이 지난 1일 군(軍) 정신교육을 전담하는 국방정신전력원 창설을 축하하는 메시지를 통해 국방정신전력원이 강군 육성의 디딤돌이 되어 줄 것을 기대했다.

 또 군 정신전력 강화를 위한 최고 교육기관 설립을 위해 지난 1년여 동안 열과 성을 다해 온 합동군사대학교 총장과 군 관계관들의 노고를 치하했다.

 이번 국방정신전력원의 창설에 앞서 이의 전신이라 할 수 있는 국방정신교육원이 1977년 박정희 대통령 시절 설립돼 운영되다 김대중 정부 때인 1999년에 폐지됐다.

 14년여 만에 부활하는 국방정신전력원은 합동군사대학교 산하로 앞으로 지휘관 과정, 정훈보수 과정, 전문요원 과정 등을 운영하면서 연간 7천800여 명의 군 간부를 교육하고 군 정신교육 자료를 생산하는 역할도 수행하게 된다.(Konas)
