전원책의 보수이야기 ♥제341신 나는 우리 시대에 모국어가 파괴되는 것을 가슴 아프게 지켜보고 있습니다
'세계화glovslization'론자가 아니라도 '영어의 필요성'은 누구나 인정합니다. 그러나 모국어를 온전히 습득하기 전에 '영어공교육'을 찾던 이명박 정권은 한편의 희극이었습니다. 요즘 청년들이 쓴 글을 보면 어휘는 한정되어 있고 번역체 문장이 난무하며 잘못된 어법 투성이입니다. 한자어가 80%인 우리말임에도 한자를 모르니 표현은 어려워지지요. 드라마에는 엉터리 대사가 흘러넘치고 노랫말은 국적불명입니다. 본래 모국어에 대한 애착은 보수주의의 덕목 중 하나입니다. 현대 자유주의(리버럴리즘)가 발전한 미국에서는 국가공동체에 대한 지향이 보수주의보다 더 강하지만 사회적 연대감은 오히려 유연하여 국가공용어인 영어에 대한 고집은 보수주의보다 덜하지요. (마르크스 이래 서구의 사민주의 등 원류좌파들은 민족주의 혹은 국가주의적 고집은 없습니다) 그런데 우리의 경우 보수 진보, 좌우파 가릴 것 없이 모국어에 대한 폄하가 계속되는 걸 어떻게 이해해야 합니까? 위대한 사상가와 예술가를 배출하고 학문적 성과가 컸던 나라들은 하나같이 모국어를 존중하고 철저하게 가르쳤습니다.
