 이재오 박근혜 지원 … 공식지지 밝혀

새누리당 이재오 의원은 2일 "정권재창출에 우리가 모든 노력을 다해야 하는 것이 오늘 우리에게 맡겨진 시대적 책무"라며 박근혜 대선후보에 대한 지원 입장을 밝혔다.

이 의원은 이날 자신의 측근인 김해진 전 특임차관을 통해 이날 오후 여의도 당사에서 성명을 발표, 이같이 말하고 "저 또한 어떤 위치에서든 작은 힘이나마 힘껏 보탤 것"이라고 강조했다.

당내 구주류인 친이(친이명박)계의 중심축 역할을 해온 이 의원이 박근혜 후보에 대한 지원 의사를 공식 표시함에 따라 대선을 17일 앞두고 당내 결속력이 제고될지 주목된다.

분권형 개헌을 요구하며 박 후보와 각을 세워온 이 의원의 `박근혜 지원' 여부는 대선을 앞두고 당 화합ㆍ통합의 마지막 과제로 여겨져 왔다.

이 의원은 "남북이 심각하게 대치하고 있는 가운데 치러지는 이번 대선은 자유민주주의와 시장경제를 유지 발전시키는 국운이 달린 선거"라며 "정권재창출로 국가의 발전적 흐름이 중단되지 않아야 하며 국제사회에서 대한민국의 높아진 위상을 한층 더 계승ㆍ발전시켜야 한다"고 밝혔다.

나아가 "지도자를 잘못 선택해 실패한 과거 정권으로 되돌아간다는 것은 국가와 국민에게 더 큰 불행을 예고하는 것"이라고도 했다.
