김일성은 俗物이었습니다

아래는 黃長燁 선생이 작고하기 전 필자에게 한 말이다.
"김일성은 俗物이었습니다. 스탈린과 毛澤東은 악당이었지만 한 구석엔 영웅적 풍모가 있었어요. 가족을 편애하지 않았습니다. 김일성은 김정일에게 권력을 넘기더니 나중엔 아들 눈치를 보는 신세가 되고 말았지요. 어느 자리에서 김일성이 爲民해야 한다고 연설을 하는데 이를 듣고 있던 김정일이 저의 귀에다 대고 이렇게 말하는 거에요. '黃 선생, 爲民이 다 뭡니까? 인민에겐 무섭게 대해야 돼요.'"
黃 선생은 김일성에 대한 인간적 감정과 역사적 평가를 명확히 구분하였다. 2001년 책(‘어둠의 편이 된 햇볕은 어둠을 밝힐 수 없다’)에서 그는 이렇게 비판하였다.
