 정몽준 “盧정부 美에 ‘日 가상적국 설정’ 제의
 “경선 참여하고 싶지만 룰 논의없이는 불참”

정몽준 새누리당 전 대표는 2일 “노무현 정부 시절 우리 정부가 미국측에 ‘일본을 가상의 적으로 규정하자’는 제안을 했다”고 말했다.

  
정 전 대표는 이날 국회 본회의장 앞에서 기자들을 만나 “언론에 보도되지 않은 사항이다. 장관은 물론 사령관들도 오는 장관회담에서 있었던 일”이라며 이같이 밝혔다.

  
그는 또 “영어로 ‘하이 폴리티컬 에너미(High political enemy)’, 즉 가상의 적인데 군사전략상 주적이란 표현을 안 쓰니 가상의 적은 주적 개념”이라고 덧붙였다.

  
그는 “일반 국민의 감정이 일본에 안 좋고, 독도가 항상 시비이고 하니 노 대통령이 제안한 것인데 한국과 일본이 같은 자유민주주의 국가로 그렇지 않은 국가에 대해 손잡길 바랬던 미국측이 굉장히 당황했다”고 말했다.

  
이어 “미국이 굉장히 당황하고 일본에 가르쳐주지 않았겠느냐. 일본은 그 이후 우리나라를 어떻게 봤겠고, 미국은 또 어떻게 한국을 봤겠느냐”며 “너무 지나치게 한 쪽으로 편향된 것”이라고 지적했다.

  
또한 논란 중인 한일정보협정에 대해 “여러가지 떳떳하지 못한 방법으로 했다”며 “우리나라 국정운영에서 외교ㆍ안보에 대해 얼마나 무지한지...”라고 말했다.

  
아울러 당 대선 경선과 관련해서는 “나도 경선에 참여하고 싶다”면서도 경선룰 논의기구와 합리적 논의 진행 없이는 경선에 참여할 수 없다는 기존 입장을 견지했다.
