凡人에게 침을 바보에겐 존경을 천재에겐 감사를

지식인은 대체로 과거지향적, 비판적, 비관적이다. 사업가는 대체로 미래지향적, 긍정적, 낙관적이다. 안된다는 말은 논리가 정연하고 된다는 말은 모호하다. 말싸움에선 지식인이 이기지만 실천에선 패배자이다. 비관자는 아무것도 만들지 못한다.
"보통사람은 인간이 할 수 있는 일을 하는 사람, 사업가는 인간이 할 수 없는 일을 하는 사람, 정치인은 인간이 해선 안 되는 일을 하는 사람"이란 우스개가 있다.
"凡人에게 침을, 바보에겐 존경을, 천재에겐 감사를"이란 말도 있다. 여기서 凡人은 보통사람이란 뜻이 아니고 偉人(위인)과 天才(천재)를 헐뜯어서 먹고 사는 지식인을 가리킨다.
