 영국 폭동사태 4일 만에 사망자 발생
 한국인 여행객 2명 피습

영국에서 발생한 폭동사태가 최악으로 치닫고 있는 가운데 9일 첫 사망자가 발생해 충격을 주고 있다.

 
런던 경시청에 따르면 폭동사태가 극심했던 런던 남부 크로이돈에서 8일 밤 자신의 차 안에서 총격을 받은 26세 남성이 하루 만에 숨졌다. 경찰은 현재 구체적인 피격 경위에 대해 조사 중에 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

 
이번 폭동은 4일 런던 북동부 토트넘 지역에서 시위 중이던 마크 더건이 경찰의 총격으로 사망한 사건을 계기로 시작됐으며 이틀 후인 6일 더건의 친구와 친척 등 120여명이 진상규명을 요구하며 경찰서로 행진해 더욱 확산됐다.

 
현재 런던을 중심으로 진행되던 폭동은 첨차 버밍엄과 리버풀, 브리스톨 등 잉글랜드 전역으로 확대되고 있는 상황이다.

 
영국 각 지역은 건물과 차량이 불타고 폭력과 약탈 등 범죄가 계속 이어지고 있으나 경찰은 속수무책인 것으로 알려졌다. 

 
또한 한국인 여행객 2명도 런던 하이드파크 인근에서 복면을 쓴 청년들로부터 휴대전화, 태블릿PC 등 금품 200만원 상당을 갈취당한 것으로 전해져 여행객들의 주의가 요구된다.
