차분하게 기다릴 때 입니다

얼마전 읽은 한 신문의 시론에서
아주 인상깊은 구절을 발견했습니다.
'진실은 여러모로 해석될 수 있는 여지를
다소 엇갈리는 사실로 구성돼있지만
루머 일수록 '아귀가 딱 맞아 떨어진다'는 내용이었습니다.
지금 천안함- 이 비극적 사태를 두고
여러가지 유언비어와 루머가 난무합니다.
들어보면 정말이지 그럴 듯 합니다.
게다가 모든 소설이란 그렇다죠?
작가 역시 정말로 있었던 일을 쓰지 못한다고-
일어나지 않은 상상의 인물과 세계만이
글속에서 생명을 얻고 화려하게 꽃핀다고 합니다.
그래서 기적을 보지 못한자가 더 그럴 듯하게
기적을 전파한다고 합니다.
진짜로 본 사람은 하도 놀라
어안이 벙벙해서 한마디도 못하는 경우가 대부분이라고 합니다.
천안함 사태는 그 진실이 밝혀질 수 밖에
없습니다.
생존자도 많고 또 현대 첨단기기로
밝힐 수 있는 '사실'로서 존재하기 때문입니다.
지금 이 시점에서 우리는
절대로 적에게 알려져서는 안될 군의 기밀과
마땅히 국민이 알아야 될 정보속에서
혼돈을 겪고 있습니다.
답은 간단합니다.
군의 기밀은 보장되어야 합니다.
그리고 국민의 알 권리는 '기밀'차원이 아니라
'알 권리'차원에서는 공개되어야 합니다.
저는 이명박 대통령도 이 점을 고민하고 있고
우리 정부 역시 '진실'을 밝힐 것이라고 봅니다.
지금 우리 국민들이 해야할 일은
차분하고 냉정하게 기다리는 것입니다.
지금 허망한 루머와 왜곡된 유언비어에
귀를 기울일 것이 아니라
이 나라 '안전'과 '안보'라는
커다란 틀에서 사안을 보아야 할 땝니다.
대통령 역시 국민에게 이번 천안함 사건에
대해 터놓고 이야기를 하는 기회를
마련하는 것이 꼭 필요하다고 봅니다.
