 마크 커크 美 의원 “투명성 보장돼야 對北 식량지원”
 식량분배 조건 확실히 한 후 北에 지원해야…美北대화는 필요

 커크 의원은 15일 ‘미국의 소리 방송’과의 전화 인터뷰에서 분배 감시에 대한 보장 없이 북한에 식량을 지원해서는 안 된다고 말했습니다.
 
 커크 의원은 인도적 차원에서 미국의 대북 식량 지원을 지지하지만 분배 감시가 지원의 전제 조건이 돼야 한다고 말했습니다.
 
 커크 의원은 과거 로널드 레이건 전 대통령이 “배고픈 아이들은 정치를 모른다”며, 에디오피아 공산당 정부에 식량을 지원한 사실을 지적하며, 북한 정권의 성격과 상관없이 7백만 명의 북한 어린이들이 굶주려서는 안 된다고 말했습니다.
 
 커크 의원은 이어 미국은 잠재적 적대국과 대화를 중단해서는 안 된다며, 북한과 대화를 재개해야 한다고 말했습니다. 커크 의원은 북한과의 대화에서 큰 기대를 하기는 어렵고, 미국은 언제든지 군사적 수단을 동원할 준비를 해야 하지만, 그래도 대화가 더 나은 방안이라고 말했습니다.
 
 한편 10만 한국계 미국인들의 이산가족 상봉을 추진하는 커크 의원은 자신이 오바마 행정부와 한국 정부로부터 큰 지지를 받고 있다고 말했습니다. 커크 의원은 특히 한국 정부가 최근 이 문제에 협조를 약속했다며, 이는 미국의 동맹국인 한국이 보여준 인도적 차원의 중대한 조치라고 말했습니다
