 세브란스병원 뇌사 기증자와 생체 기증자 이용한 동시이식 성공

세브란스병원이 뇌사자와 생체 기증자로부터 다른 장기를 수혜 받아 한 명의 환자에게 이식하는 폐·간 
동시 이식술에 성공했다. 
 
세브란스병원 장기이식팀(백효채 흉부외과 교수, 주동진 이식외과 교수, 박무석 호흡기내과 교수, 한대
훈 간담췌외과 교수팀)은 지난달 13일 뇌사자 폐와 생체 기증자의 간을 동시에 이식하는 수술에 성공했
다고 16일 밝혔다. 
 
이번에 수술 받은 서종관(46)씨는 지난해 10월 간질성 폐질환과 자가면역성 간질환으로 이식이 필요하
다는 진단을 받았다.  

산소통이 없으면 숨이 차서 활동이 어려웠고, 간경화로 인해 황달도 심했다. 당장 이식이 필요한 상황
이었다.  

하지만 뇌사 장기 기증자가 부족한 국내 사정상 폐의 경우 뇌사자 장기 이식을 위한 대기 기간이 비교
적 짧은 반면, 간은 대기 기간이 길어 부인이 간을 이식해 주기로 결정했다. 

지난 3월 간경화로 인한 급성 간성뇌증(혼수) 상태에 빠진 서씨는 뇌사자 폐를 기증받아 약 14시간에 
걸쳐 폐와 간 동시 이식수술을 받았다. 서씨는 수술 후 호흡기내과의 재활치료와 관리를 받고 정상적인 
호흡이 가능하게 돼 한 달 만에 퇴원했다.

주동진 세브란스 이식외과 교수는 “뇌사자 장기 이식과 함께 동시에 진행되는 생체 장기 이식은 관련 
진료과의 체계적인 협업이 필요한 고난도 이식수술이지만 다장기 이식이 필요한 환자에서 새로운 대안
이 될 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.[데일리안 = 이은정 기자]
