미국은 북핵에 과거 실패 반복 않을 것 펜스 "트럼프 대통령 북한 비핵화 위해 자리 떠나" 류상우 기자 마이크 펜스 미국 부통령은 “미국이 북한 문제에 있어 과거의 실패를 반복하지 않을 것”이라며, “북한 의 완전한 비핵화를 이룰 때까지 단호한 태도를 취할 것”이라고 밝혔다고 미국의 소리(VOA)가 2일 전 했다. 하노이에서 열린 2차 미-북회담이 합의에 이르지 못한 것에 대해 “때론 자리를 떠야 한다”고 잘 된 결정이라며, 펜스 부통령은 1일 미국 매릴랜드에서 열린 ‘보수주의정치행동회의(CPAC)’ 연설에서 “북한의 완전한 비핵화를 성취하는 것이 미국 트럼프 대통령의 목표(President Trump will stand firm until we achieve the complete denuclearization of North Korea)”라고 강조했다고 한다. 펜스 부통령은 이날 “지난 수십 년간 북한 문제에 있어 실패를 거듭했지만, 트럼프 대통령의 지도력 아 래 미국은 과거의 실패를 반복하지 않을 것(After decades of failure with North Korea, under President Trump’s leadership, America will not repeat the mistakes of the past)”이라며 “미국은 미 국의 안보와 한반도 주민들을 위해 계속해서 평화를 추구할 것(We will keep seeking peace but for the sake of our security, the sake of the people of the Korean peninsula)이고, 트럼프 대통령도 북 한의 완전한 비핵화를 달성할 때까지 단호한 태도를 취할 것”라고 밝혔다고 VOA는 전했다. 펜스 부통령은 전날인 2월 28일 미-북 정상회담이 합의를 도출하지 못한 채 끝난 사실에 대해 “트럼프 대통령이 말한 것처럼 이번 회담은 이틀 간의 생산적인 만남이었고, (실무협상) 팀원들 간 논의는 계속 될 것(Last night, President Trump returned from a second historic summit with North Korea in Vietnam.
