종로 고시원 화재 곳곳에 도사리고 있던 위험관리 소홀 문제

종로 고시원에 화재가 발생한 가운데, 최근 5년 동안 발생한 고시원에서 발생한 화재가 360여건이나 되
는 것으로 알려져 그 이유에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.
9일 오전 서울 종로구의 한 고시원에서 화재가 발생했다. 이 사고로 최소 6명이 목숨을 잃었다. 종로구 고
시원처럼, 고시원의 경우 불이 나면 비좁은 탓에 대피가 어려워 큰 사고로 이어질 수 있다.
최근 5년동안 발생한 고시원 화재는 360여 건, 38명이 숨지거나 다쳤다. 정부 점검 결과, 고시원 5곳 가운
데 한 곳은 안전설비가 취약해 행정처분을 받았다.
이번 종로의 고시원 화재는 다른 고시원의 화재 상황 대비에 경각심을 주기도 했다. 사실상 피난유도등이
꺼지고 가스 누출을 막아주는 장치의 전원이 꺼져있는 등 관리가 제대로 되고 있지 않은 고시원이 많은 것
이 현실이다.
이와 관련해 행정안전부는 안전 점검을 강화하고, 안전장치 설치가 시급한 곳엔 특별교부금을 지원하기로
