세금 낼 돈은 없어도 해외서 명품은 산다

국세 고액 상습체납자(이하 고액체납자) 대상 공항 입국검사 및 통관검사에서 고액의 물품을 들여오다
압류된 사람이 적지 않은 것으로 드러났다.
더불어민주당 김경협 의원(부천원미갑)이 관세청으로부터 제출받은 ‘국세체납자에 대한 휴대품 검사결
과’를 분석한 결과, 검사를 처음 시행한 지난해 5월부터 올해 8월까지 57명의 고액체납자가 8,200만원
상당의 수입품이나 외화를 들여오다 압류처분을 받았다.
압류물품은 고급 의류, 공예품, 골프채, 시계 등 명품뿐 아니라 우리 돈 1,300만원 상당의 외화(홍콩달
러) 등 다양하게 집계됐다.
김 의원은 “해외를 다니며 고가의 물품을 구입하거나 수입해 오는 고액체납자가 적지 않다는 사실이 확
인됐다”며 “압류노력과 함께 출국금지 제도의 허점을 보완할 방안을 검토해야 할 것”이라고 말했다.
2016년말 국세징수법(제30조의2 신설) 개정에 따라 관세청은 2억원 이상의 고액체납자가 들여오는 물
품에 대하여 압류·매각을 할 수 있게 돼 입국검사시 소지한 휴대품을 직접 압류하거나 특송품 등을 통
관보류한 뒤 압류하고 있다.
