 주한미군 평창 성공위해 필요한 모든 지원 노력
 

브룩스 사령관, 국회의장 초청 국회오찬에서 밝혀

 빈센트 브룩스 한미연합사령관 겸 주한미군사령관은 26일 "성공적인 평창 동계올림픽 개최를 위해 필요
한 지원을 할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.

 브룩스 사령관은 이날 정세균 국회의장 초청 국회 오찬 모두 발언에서 "김병주 부사령관과 평창 현장에 
두 차례 다녀왔고, 지금까지 평창올림픽 준비에 상당한 성과를 거둔 것을 알 수 있었다. 이런 큰 행사를 얼
마나 잘 준비해나가는지 대한민국의 진면목을 볼 수 있었다"며 이같이 밝혔다.

 아울러 "한미동맹이 계속 강력해질 수 있는 저변에는 국회의 지원이 있지 않나 싶다"며  "국회의 지원이 
없었으면 우리가 지금 모습을 보일 수 없었을 것"이라고 정 의장에게 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

 이날 오찬에는 송영무 국방부 장관을 비롯해 국회 국방위원장인 자유한국당 김학용 의원과 국방위 더불
어민주당 간사인 이철희 의원이 배석했다.

 마크 내퍼 주한미국대사 대리와 김병주 연합사 부사령관, 마이클 빌스 미8군 사령관 등도 참석했다.
