 오토모티브 뉴스誌 선정, ‘2011년 자동차 업계 아시아 최고의 CEO’에 선정

정몽구 현대차그룹 회장이 품질경영을 앞세운 비약적인 성장을 바탕으로 2년 연속 아시아 최고의 CEO에 선정됐다.

현대차그룹(회장 정몽구)은 28일(현지시간) 정몽구 회장이 품질경영을 바탕으로 현대&#8226;기아차의 브랜드 파워를 비약적으로 향상시킨 능력과 공로를 인정받아, 美 유력 자동차 전문지인 ‘오토모티브 뉴스(Automotive News)’誌가 발표하는 ‘2011년 자동차 업계 아시아 최고의 CEO’에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

오토모티브 뉴스誌는 매년 자동차 업계의 ‘올스타(All-Stars)’를 선정해 발표하고 있으며, 올해는 2010년 7월부터 2011년 6월까지의 성과를 기준으로 오토모티브 뉴스 기자와 편집인들이 각 부문별로 엄격히 평가해 최종 수상자를 발표했다.

특히 자동차가 생산되는 북미, 유럽, 아시아 등 3개 지역별로 나눠 경영능력이 탁월한 자동차 업계의 경영인을 발표했는데, 아시아에서는 현대차그룹 정몽구 회장이, 북미에서는 세르지오 마르치오네(Sergio Marchionne) 크라이슬러 그룹 CEO가, 유럽에서는 마틴 빈터콘(Martin Winterkorn) 폴크스바겐 그룹 회장이 각각 최고의 CEO로 선정됐다.

이로써 정몽구 회장은 작년에 이어 2년 연속으로 일본 업체를 제치고 ‘자동차 업계 아시아 최고의 CEO’에 선정되는 영예를 안음으로써, 한국 자동차 산업의 위상을 새롭게 세웠다.
