 “北 후계세습은 도발과 함께 시작”

윌라드 미 태평양사령관, “미국은 북한의 또 다른 도발 가능성 면밀히 주시” 밝혀

 한반도와 일본을 포함한 아시아태평양 지역의 미군을 총괄하는 로버트 윌라드 미 태평양사령관은 27일 워싱턴의 내셔널 프레스 클럽에서 가진 기자회견에서, 지난 해 천안함 폭침과 연평도 포격 등 북한이 감행한 여러 차례의 도발은 후계 세습이 요인이었다고 말했다.

 윌라드 사령관은 “북한의 새로운 정권 지도부가 군부의 신임을 얻기 위해 도발을 감행했다”며, 미국은 북한의 또 다른 도발 가능성을 면밀히 주시하고 있다고 밝혔다.

 윌라드 사령관은 또 미국은 현재 북한의 후계 세습이 어떻게 진행되고 있는지, 특히 북한이 강성대국의 해로 선포한 2012년이 가까워오면서 김정은의 지도자 위치에 어떤 상관관계가 나타나는지 파악하려 하고 있다고 말했다.

 이어 윌라드 사령관은 “북한이 탄도미사일과 핵무기 프로그램을 계속해 나갈 것으로 우려하고 있다”면서, 현재 미국과 한국은 이에 대한 대응 방안을 논의하고 있다고 말했다.(konas)
