한나라당은 4일 서울 올림픽 체조경기장에서 당대표 선출을 위한 전당대회를 열고 홍준표 의원을 대표최고위원으로, 유승민, 나경원, 원희룡, 남경필 의원을 최고위원으로 각각 선출했다.
김수환 선거위원장은 이날 오후 6시경 단상에 올라 70%가 반영되는 선거인단 투표와 30%가 반영되는 여론조사를 합산한 결과를 발표했다. 선거인단 21만2,399명 중 5만9,294명이 투표에 참여해 27.9%의 투표율을 기록했으며, 유효투표 수는 11만4,372표다.
개표 결과 기호 3번 홍준표 후보가 4만1,666표로 1위를 차지했고, 유승민(3만2,157표), 나경원(2만9,722표), 원희룡(2만9,086표), 남경필(1만4,896) 후보가 2~5위를 차지해 최고위원으로 선출됐다. 6, 7위를 기록한 박진(8,956표), 권영세(6,906표) 후보는 탈락의 쓴 잔을 마셨다.
