양주시 625 전사자 유해발굴지역 평화의 쉼터조성

양주시와 제26기계화보병사단이 협력하여 호국정신과 호국영령들의 넋을 위로하기 위해 6,25전사 유해발굴지역에 평화의 쉼터를 조성했다.
30일 평화의 쉼터조성은 시는 6.25전쟁 전사자 유해발굴사업을 통해 수습된 호국영령들의 넋을 위로하고 호국정신을 드높이기 위해 동두천시계인 봉양동 칠봉산 등산로 입구에 사업비 1천 875만원을 투입해 평화의 쉼터를 조성했다.
칠봉산 506고지는 한국전쟁 초기인 1950년 6월25일경 한국군 7사단 1개 연대 및 포병대대와 북한군 4사단이 치열한 전투를 했던 역사적인 장소이다.
평화의 쉼터 시설로는 6.25 전사자 유해 발굴 지역임을 표시하는 안내판과 등산객 편의를 위한 벤치, 운동기구 등이 있고 칠봉산 등산로 정상 유해 발굴 지점에 표지석과 표지판을 별도로 설치했다.
시는 등산객들이 평화의 쉼터에서 쉬는 동안 안내판을 통하여 칠봉산 전투가 오늘날 우리가 있기까지 호국영령들의 고귀한 희생이 있었다는 사실을 알림으로써 나라 사랑과 호국 보훈의식을 함양하는 계기를 만든다는 취지에서 평화 공원을 조성하게 된다
