 日원전 2호기에도 민물주입
 바닷물 냉각 효율 떨어져…민물 대신 주입

일본 당국은 26일 후쿠시마 제1원자력 발전소 1·3호기 원자로에 이어 2호기 내부에도 민물을 주입하기 시작했다.

 
전력·냉각장치와 주제어실(MCR) 조명 복구에 이어 또 하나의 진전을 이룬 것이다. 이로써 앞으로의 냉각작업이 한층 활발히 진행될 것으로 보인다.

 
교토통신에 따르면 도쿄전력은 1호기에는 지난 25일 오후 3시 34분부터 3호기는 이날 오후 6시 3분부터 민물을 넣기 시작했다.

 
도쿄전력은 그동안 원자로 노심이 지나치게 가열돼 연료봉이 훼손되는 것을 막기 위해 소방펌프 등을 이용해 바닷물을 주입해왔지만 시간이 지난 후 염분이 쌓이면 냉각 효율이 떨어질 수 있기 때문에 민물을 대신 주입하는 방안을 준비해왔다.

 
미국이 일본 정부에 민물을 주입할 것을 요청한 것으로 알려졌으며, 미국은 미군의 바지선을 후쿠시마 인근으로 보내 원전에 민물을 주입하는 것을 돕고 있다.

 
도쿄전력은 후쿠시마 인근 댐에서 물을 끌어와 원전 내부 탱크에 담은 뒤 소방펌프를 이용해 원자로에 주입했다.

 
그러나 간 나오토 일본 총리는 “경계를 늦춰서는 안된다. 우리는 지금의 상황 악화를 막기 위해 노력해야 한다”며 “조금 나아졌을 뿐 긴장을 풀기에는 아직 이르다”고 밝혔다.

 
한편, 국제 원자력 기구에선 식품이나 토양으로부터 검출된 방사성 물질을 분석하기 위해 전문가 3명을 일본에 추가로 파견했고 일본 정부와 함께 오염 실태 파악에 나설 계획이다.
