문화재청 원자 세자 전시홍보해야

원자(元子)는 왕세자에 책봉되지 않은 임금의 맏아들을 일컫는 말이며 왕후가 첫째 아들 원자(元子)를 출산하면 보양청(輔養廳)을 설치하여 양육을 하고 왕실에서는 적통대군(嫡統大君)을 세자로 책봉하나 후궁 소생이나 장자가 아닌 왕자 중에서도 책봉된다.
원자(元子)의 학문이 왕세자로서 손색이 없다고 판단되면 세자책봉례를 거행한다. 세자책봉례는 원자를 세자로 책봉한다는 임명서를 수여하는 의식으로 조정의 문무백관들을 모아놓고 책봉례를 거행한 후 바로 태묘에 원자의 세자 책봉 사실을 고하고 8도에 알린다.
책봉례는 국왕이 세자에게 7장복(七章服), 죽책문(竹冊文), 교명문(敎命文), 세자인(世子印)을 수여하는 형식을 취한다. 세자가 되면 동궁의 자선당(資善堂)으로 들어가게 되는데 임금이 될 때까지 세자시강원(世子侍講院)에서 서연(書筵)을 받고 세자익위사(世子翊衛司)가 경호를 맡는다.
