'제2의 노인폄하'발언 파장 조짐 

진보신당 지지자인 논객 진중권씨가 과격화, 장기화된 촛불시위를 우려하는 원로의 목소리에 "노인들이 벽에 X칠을 하는 것에 대해서까지 의견을 가질 필요가 있느냐"는 막말을 퍼부어 논란이 예상된다. 

진씨는 18일 머니투데이와의 인터뷰에서 촛불시위로 인한 사회적 불안을 지적한 조갑제 전 월간조선 대표나 대표적 문인인 소설가 이문열씨를 비난하며 이같이 내뱉었다. 진씨의 이같은 주장은 제 2의 노인폄하발언으로 비화될 조짐을 나타내고 있다.

진씨는 촛불시위대 참가자 수가 현격히 줄어들고 있는 상황에 대해 "사람들이 역량을 한달 넘게 쏟아 피곤함을 느끼고 있다"며 "이미 예상했던 일"이라고 주장했다. 촛불시위는 쇠파이프 출몰과 주도세력인 광우병국민대책회의의 정권퇴진 운동 선언과 맞물려 지난 11일 이후 점차 줄어드는 양상이다.

진씨는 또 공공부분 개혁, 교육자율화 등 전반적인 정부정책에 대한 반대운동으로 확대시키려는 시위주도 세력의 움직임을 옹호하며 "이제는 촛불집회가 소규모로 일상적으로 일어나고 의제도 다양해지고 있다"고 강변했다. 그는 "소규모로 일상화되더라도 계기가 생기면 다시 촛불이 모일 것"이라며 "이번 쇠고기 추가협상 결과나 관보 게재 문제, 대운하 등 앞으로의 또 다른 사안이 그 계기가 될 것"이라며 시위확산을 기대했다.

진씨는 정부를 향해서도 "아직 정신을 못차렸다" "이명박 대통령의 지지율이 한자리수로 떨어졌는데 이제 더 떨어질 지지율이 없어서 밀고 나가는 것 같다"는 등의 주장을 늘어놓았다.
