남해해경청 소말리아 해적 수사본부 설치 준비

남해해양경찰청(청장 김충규)은 정부가 생포한 소말리아 해적 5명을 국내로 압송하기로 결정함에 따라 남해해경청이 1차적으로 수사할 것에 대비 특별수사본부를 설치하여 본격적인 수사준비에 나설 예정이라고 27일 밝혔다
현재 설치 검토 중인 특별수사본부는 남해해양경찰청장을 본부장으로 하여 수사반 등 4개반 50여명으로 구성할 계획이다.
수사본부장은 부산경찰청 형사 및 수사과장 등을 지낸 수사통으로 99년 탈옥수 신창원 검거사건과 2000년 연쇄살인범 정두영 검거사건 당시 주무 계장으로 수사를 지휘한 경험이 있고, 수사를 담당하게 될 팀장들도 96년 한국인 선원 등 11명이 희생된 ‘페스카마호 선상살인사건 99년 텐유호 실종사건 등을 다룬 경험이 있는 수사관들로 배치하여 해적신병을 인수 받음과 동시에 신속하고 면밀한 수사로 사건의 실체적 진실을 낱낱이 규명해 나갈 것이라고 자신감을 내 보였다.
