 예비군도 한미연합훈련 참가한다
 예비전력 정예화 차원…올해부터 2개 대대씩 차출

현역과 함께 예비군들도 올해부터 한·미연합훈련에 참가해 전방에 투입된다.

  
국방부 고위관계자는 16일 “오는 3월과 8월 각각 실시하는 한·미연합훈련인 ‘키 리졸브(KR) 및 독수리(FE)연습’과 ‘을지프리덤가디언(UFG)연습’에 예비군 2개 대대씩 참가해 처음으로 전방으로 전개하는 훈련을 실시한다”고 밝혔다. 
  
훈련에 참가하는 예비군부대는 전시에 전방 차출되는 ‘정밀보충대대’로 현역 부대와 통합훈련을 하게 될 것으로 알려졌다.
  
국방부 측은 “정밀보충대대가 동원훈련만 했지 실제 전방에 배치되는 훈련은 하지 못했다”면서 “올해 한·미연합훈련부터 전방으로 예비군 병력을 배치하고 물자를 수송하는 연습을 하게 될 것”이라고 설명했다. 
  
국방부 관계자는 “국방개혁의 큰 틀인 상비전력의 규모 조정과 연계해 예비전력의 정예화가 절실하다”며 “전시 동원 즉시 강한 전투력을 발휘하고 향토방위작전 능력을 배양하기 위한 실전훈련”이라고 설명했다.
  
국방부는 예비전력의 정예화 일환으로 동원훈련을 오는 2015년까지 2박 3일간 실시하되 2016년부터 2019년까지는 3박 4일, 2020년부터는 4박 5일로 기간을 늘릴 계획이다. 
  
또, 예비군 개인화기도 교체하고 방탄 헬멧과 방독면 등 전투 및 생존에 필요한 전투장구류도 지급할 예정이다.
