 WFP 평양사무소장 “러시아 北에 3백만 달러 식량 지원”
 러시아, 세계식량계획(WFP)의 대북 지원사업에 3백만 달러를 기부하기로…WFP 평양사무소장, “현재 비축분으로는 3월 달까지만 식량 분배가능”

 러시아가 지난 12월 크리스마스 직전 세계식량계획 WFP에 대북 식량 지원을 위한 3백만 달러 기부를 약속했습니다.
 
 클라우디아 본 롤(Claudia Von Roehl) WFP 평양사무소장은 6일 ‘미국의 소리’ 방송과의 전화통화에서 이같이 밝히고, 러시아의 지원금은 연초에 전달될 것이라고 말했습니다.
 
 WFP는 현재까지 대북 사업과 관련해 브라질, 룩셈부르크, 노르웨이, 스위스 등 4개 국가와 유엔으로부터 1천 8백45만 달러를 기부 받았습니다. 이는 WFP가 2010년 7월부터 2012년 6월까지 진행하는 대북 사업 총 예산 9천 6백만 달러의 19%에 불과한 액수입니다.
 
 본 롤 소장은 “현재 비축분으로는 3월 달까지만 식량을 분배할 수 있다”며, “추가 기부를 받지 않으면 4월에는 식량이 떨어질 것으로 예상된다”고 말했습니다. 
 
 본 롤 소장은 지원금이 부족해 북한 내 식량 지원 취로사업은 현재 진행하지 못하고 있으며, 가장 취약한 계층인 어린이들과 산모, 수유모에게만 영양강화식품을 제공하고 있다고 설명했습니다. 
 
 북한은 이번 겨울에 특히 김장 김치가 부족해 주민들이 어려움을 겪고 있다고 본 롤 소장은 전했습니다.
 
 지난 해 기상 상황이 나빴던 데다 홍수로 인해 토양 내 수분 함량이 높았기 때문에 주민들이 김장 김치를 많이 마련하지 못했다는 겁니다. 본 롤 소장은 따라서 김장 부족이 북한 주민들의 식량안보에 영향을 줄 것으로 예상했습니다.
 
 지난 10월 초 북한에 부임한 클라우디아 본 롤 소장은 자신의 가장 큰 목표는 국제사회에 대북 식량 지원의 필요성을 호소하고 자금을 확보하는 것이라고 말했습니다. 
 
 독일 출신인 본 롤 소장은 그동안 세계식량계획 집행이사회 사무국장과 온두라스 WFP 사무소장을 지냈습니다.
