 교수들이 뽑은 새해 사자성어 ‘民貴君輕’
 “국민이 우선”이라는 뜻

교수들은 새해 희망의 사자성어로 ‘백성은 귀하고 임금은 가볍다’는 뜻인 민귀군경(民貴君輕)을 선정했다.

  
교수신문은 2일 “교수신문 필진, 일간지 칼럼니스트, 주요 학회장 등 212명이 이번 설문에 참여해 39%가 민귀군경을 꼽았다”고 밝혔다
  
민귀군경은 맹자 ‘진심(盡心)’편에서 “백성이 존귀하고 사직(社稷)은 그 다음이며 임금은 가볍다”고 한 데서 유래한 말이다. 
  
이 성어를 추천한 이승환 고려대 철학과 교수는 “새해에는 나라의 근본인 국민을 존중하는 정치, 국민과 소통하는 정치, 국민을 위한 정치를 하기 바란다”고 말했다. 
  
민귀군경에 이어 ‘한마음을 가지면 큰 의미의 대화합을 이룰 수 있다’는 보합대화(保合大和·21%), ‘국민이 화합하고 궁극적으로 지구촌의 화합을 지향한다’는 조민유화(兆民有和·20%)가 2, 3위에 올랐다.
