시청자들 “단순 사고겠지만 하필 나라 이름에 오자?”

“우리는 대한민국이 아니었나?”
MBC가 13일 2010 광저우 아시안게임 한국과 팔레스타인의 남자 축구 조별예선 최종전이 끝난 뒤 황당한 자막 사고를 냈다.
MBC는 이날 한국의 다음 경기를 예고하면서 '남자 축구 16강 대만민국 : 중국·말레이시아 전(戰)승자'라는 자막을 내보냈다. 
대한민국 국명을 '대만민국'으로 잘못 표기하는 사고를 낸 것이다. 
시청자들은 “단순한 사고라고 하지만 나라의 이름을 잘못 표기하다니 부끄럽다” “우리나라 이름도 모르는 방송국, 민망할 정도”라는 등 비난을 보냈다. 
한 시청자는 “아직 우리나라 이름도 모르시나요? 완전 민망한 거 알아요?”라고 비꼬기도 했다. 
이날 중계는 AGB닐슨미디어리서치 조사에서 시청률 8.9%를 기록했다.
