 昌 “우파와 좌파 사이 중간영역은 없어”
 한나라당의 ‘개혁적 중도보수’ 비판

이회창 자유선진당 대표는 29일 최근 한나라당이 당의 정체성을 ‘개혁적 중도보수’로 설정한 것에 대해 “보수든 진보든 자신의 정체성의 닻 없이 중간영역으로 가겠다고 한다면 포퓰리즘의 바람에 휘날리는 갈대처럼 될 수 밖에 없다”고 비판했다. 

  
이 대표는 이날 국회에서 열린 당5역회의에서 “이념상으로 보수와 진보, 우파와 좌파 사이에 제3의 중간영역이 있다는 생각은 잘못이고 착각”이라며 이같이 말했다. 
  
그는 “(한나라당의) 최근의 감세정책 소동이 (포퓰리즘에 흔들린) 좋은 예”라면서 “자유와 평등 사이에 자유도 평등도 아닌 제3의 중간 영역은 있을 수가 없는 것과 마찬가지로 성장과 분배에 있어서도 성장도 분배도 아닌 제3의 중간영역은 없다”고 지적했다.
  
이 대표는 또 중국 시진핑 국가 부주석이 ‘6·25를 침략에 맞선 정의로운 전쟁’이라고 말한 데 대해 “중국이 대국주의의 논리로 겸손함을 잃어가고 있다”며 “한마디로 G2(미국·중국)로 부상한 중국이 과거의 역사 언급에 대해 자제할 필요를 느끼지 않을 만큼 오만해 진 것”이라고 평가했다.
