이안류에 떠밀려 KBS 뉴스의 暗號암호방송
한글專用이 신념이라면 차라리 '거꾸로 파도'라고 하는 게 정직하다.
오늘 KBS 아홉시 뉴스는 해운대 해수욕장에서 '이안류'에 떠밀려 가던 사람들을 구조하였다는 보도를 하면서 '이안류'가 무슨 뜻인지를 漢字로 설명하지 않았다. 離岸流(이안류)라고 써놓으면 해안을 떠나 바다를 향하여 흐르는 물이라는 뜻이 된다. 글자를 읽는 순간 뜻을 이해하게 된다. 읽기와 이해가 동시에 이뤄진다는 점에 漢字語의 매력이 있다.
字幕에 '이안류(離岸流)'라고 쓰든지 '離岸流(이안류)'라고 쓰면 될 터인데, '이안류'라고 말하면서 보도를 하니 내 옆에 있던 사람은 다 듣고도 무슨 뜻인지 모르고 있었다.
한글專用이 신념이라면 차라리 '거꾸로 파도'라고 하는 게 정직하다. 한글專用論者들일수록 漢字語를 좋아하는 경향이다. 그런 한글專用은 게으름의 다른 표현일 것이다.
漢字語를 反共처럼 기피하는 기자들이 있는 한 한국인들은 교양을 體得(체득)할 수 없을 것이다. 교양의 바탕이 형성되지 않으면 예절도, 遵法(준법)도, 민주주의의 成熟(성숙)도, 一流국가도 空念佛(공염불)이다.
