 오바마 한국전 60주년 결의안 서명

'한국전 참전 용사에게 경의, 희생을 잊지 않도록 모든 미국인 기념 행사에 참가 권고'

 버락 오바마 미국 대통령은 60주년을 맞는 한국전쟁을 기리기 위한 상하원 공동 결의에 서명했다. 오바마 미 대통령은 한국전쟁 발발 60주년을 맞아 한국전쟁의 참 의미를 되새기고 한미 동맹을 더욱 공고히 할 것을 재 다짐하는 상하원 공동 결의에 서명했다. 

 오바마 대통령이 지난 7일 서명한 한국전 60주년 상하원 합동 결의는 올해로 60주년을 맞는 한국전쟁의 역사적 중요성을 되새기는 내용을 담고 있다. 

 또 한국전쟁에 참전한 미국과 동맹국 군대의 고귀한 희생과 봉사를 기리는 한편, 한국전 참전 용사에게 경의를 표하고 이들의 희생을 잊지 않도록 모든 미국인이 기념 행사에 참가토록 권고했다. 

 이 밖에 결의는 한반도의 평화와 번영을 더 확고히 하기 위해 한미 양국 간 동맹을 공고히 할 것을 재다짐했다. 

 한국전 60주년 공동 결의는 특히 천안함 사건으로 한반도의 안정을 위해 한미 동맹을 더 강화해야할 필요성이 재확인됐다고 명시했다. 결의는 하지만 당초 하원 안에 포함돼 있던, 한국전 참전 용사를 기리기 위한 대통령의 행정명령 발동 요구는 하원이 상원 안을 수용함에 따라 포함하지 않았다고 미국의 자유아시아방송이 전했다. 

 앞서 미국 의회는 지난 달 한국전쟁 발발 60주년을 앞두고 법적 효력을 갖는, 상하원 공동 결의안을 나란히 채택했다.(konas)
