 민주당 김종률 의원직 상실
 단국대 이전사업 억대 돈 받아 징역1년 확정…보궐선거 지역 하나 늘어

민주당 김종률 의원(충북 증평·진천·괴산·음성)이 24일 의원직을 상실했다.

김 전 의원은 단국대 이전 사업 관련 청탁을 받고 억대의 돈을 받은 혐의로 기소됐는데 대법원 2부(주심 양승태 대법관)는 이날 징역1년에 추징금 1억원을 선고한 원심을 확정했다.

김 전 의원은 단국대 교수 겸 법무실장으로 있던 2003년 학교 이전사업 시행사가 되려는 S사로부터 사업자가 될 수 있게 해 달라는 청탁과 함께 1억원을, 이전 사업에 참여하려는 C사로부터 각종 편의 제공 청탁과 함께 1억원을 각각 법률자문료 명목으로 받은 혐의로 기소됐다.

김 전 의원에 대한 의원직 상실형이 이날 확정되면서 김 전 의원의 지역구인 충북 증평·진천·괴산·음성도 내달 28일 열리는 국회의원 보궐선거 지역에 포함됐다. 이로써 의원직을 상실한 18대 국회의원은 총 15명으로 늘었고 민주당 의석은 83석으로 한석이 줄게 됐다.

김 전 의원은 지난 대선 당시 당내 'BBK 저격수'로 이름을 날렸고, 이번 정운찬 국무총리 후보자 국회 인사청문회에서도 청문위원으로 활동하는 등 그간 대여 공격수로 활동해왔다.
