어제보다 오늘이 중요하고 내일은 더 중요하다
뒤돌아보며 불행을 뒤지는 사람은 영원히 행복하기가 어렵다. 반성은 하되 얽매이지는 말아야 한다.

세계에서 유일하게 여성의 운전을 금지해왔던 사우디아라비아에서 그제(24일)부터 여성들도 합법적으로 운전을 할 수 있게 되었다고 한다. 21세기에 이런 나라가 있었던가 하여 새삼 놀랍다. 뒤늦게나마 이런 기쁨을 누리게 된 사우디아라비아 여성들에게 축하를 드리고 싶다. 앞으로 운전뿐 아니라 많은 분야에서 남녀 차별이 줄어들거나 해소될 것이다.
사람은 오늘이 어제보다 낫다면 그것으로 기뻐해야 할 것이다. 그것이 행복이다. 오늘 기쁘고 내일은 더 기쁠 것이라는 생각에 더욱 행복해진다. 그것이 희망이요 삶의 의미이기도 하다. 그런데 오늘을 기뻐하기보다 어제를 억울해하는 마음에 얽매인다면 오늘도 결코 행복할 수가 없다. 뒤돌아보며 불행을 뒤지는 사람은 영원히 행복하기가 어렵다. 반성은 하되 얽매이지는 말아야 한다.
