 오바마 北 도발에 맞설 준비 돼 있다
 미 CBS방송과의 인터뷰에서 이 같이 밝혀

버락 오바마 미국 대통령은 22일 북한이 미국 영토를 향해 미사일을 발사하는 사태가 발생하더라도 ´충분히 대처하고 맞설 준비(fully prepared)´가 돼 있다고 밝혔다. 

오바마 대통령은 22일(현지시간) 방송된 CBS방송과의 인터뷰에서 “미 행정부와 군이 어떠한 (북한의) 우발적 도발에 대해서도 세밀한 준비태세를 갖추고 있다”고 말했다. 

오바마 대통령은 ´미국 독립기념일인 7월4일이나, 그 즈음에 북한이 하와이를 향해 미사일을 쏜다면 어떻게 할 것인가´라는 질문에 이같이 답했다. 

한편, 미국이 이지스함과 인공위성을 동원해 북한 선박 강남호를 추적하고 있는 가운데 이날 공화당의 매케인 상원의원은 북한이 미사일 등 유엔 결의안에 위반되는 물자를 운반한다는 확실한 증거가 있다면 강제 승선해야 한다고 주장했다. 

매케인 의원은 강남호가 대량살상무기 확산에 기여할 것이며 미국에 직접적인 위협을 가하는 불량국가들에 도움을 줄 것이라고 지적했다. 

미국의 구축함 USS 매케인 호는 현재 강남호를 가까이 추적하고 있으나 정선에 나서라는 명령을 받지는 않은 상태다.
