 삼성전자퀄컴 10나노 서버 프로세서 양산‘세계 최초’

브레이크뉴스 임중권 기자= 삼성전자가 세계 최초로 10나노 서버 프로세서 양산을 시작한다.
 

삼성전자는 9일 “퀄컴과 협업을 통해 세계 최초 10나노 공정 기반 서버 프로세서 ‘센트리크(Centriq) 
2400' 양산을 시작한다. 퀄컴이 설계한 서버 칩에 삼성전자 10나노 공정(10LPE)을 적용해 양산한다”고 
밝혔다.
 
삼성전자와 퀄컴은 지난 2005년부터 파운드리 분야에서 협력 관계를 유지했다. 최근 14나노와 10나노 
등 첨단 공정을 적용한 모바일 프로세서(스냅드래곤)를 공동으로 양산한 데 이어 협업 영역을 넓혀 서
버용 프로세서로 확장했다.
 
앞서 삼성전자는 지난 해 10월 업계 최초로 양산을 시작한 10나노 로직 공정(10LPE)을 적용해 퀄컴 모
바일 AP(애플리케이션 프로세서) '스냅드래곤 835'를 생산한 데 이어 올해 4월에는 10나노 2세대 공정
(10LPP) 개발을 완료한 바 있다.
 
정은승 삼성전자 파운드리 사업부장 사장은 "고성능에 특화된 삼성전자 10나노 핀펫 공정 기술과 퀄컴
의 최첨단 SOC(시스템온칩) 디자인이 결합된 서버 프로세서가 데이터 센터 서버 시장의 판도를 바꿀 
것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
