 미국 파리협정 탈퇴 번복…마크롱 “트럼프와 해결책 논의”
 

트럼프 “파리협정 관련 무언가 일어날 수 있어”

에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령이 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 파리기후변화 협정 탈퇴 선언을 번복할 
가능성이 있음을 시사했다. 

마크롱 대통령은 16일(현지시간) 공개된 프랑스 주간지 ‘주르 날 뒤 디망슈’ 인터뷰에서 최근 트럼프 대
통령과 정상회담서 기후변화 문제를 논의한 사실을 언급했다. 

그는 “트럼프 대통령이 다음 몇 달간 해결책을 찾으려 노력하겠다고 내게 말했다”며 “우리는 미국이 파
리협정으로 돌아올 수 있게 할 것들에 대해 상세히 얘기했다”고 전했다.

앞서 트럼프 대통령도 지난 13일 양국 정상회담 후 회견에서 미국이 파리협정에 대한 입장을 바꿀 수도 
있다는 가능성을 열어뒀다. 

당시 그는 “파리기후협정과 관련해 무언가 일어날 수 있다. 뭐가 일어날지 두고 보자”면서 다만 무슨 일
이 일어나지 않더라도 “그것대로 괜찮을 것”이라고도 언급했다.

두 정상은 미국의 파리협정 탈퇴 문제를 두고 대립각을 세운 바 있다.

트럼프 대통령은 지난달 1일 파리협정 탈퇴를 공식 발표했다. 이후 마크롱 대통령은 이를 “미국의 역사
적인 실수”라고 비판했고 미국과 논의를 지속해오고 있다.

파리기후협약은 2015년 프랑스 파리에서 미국과 중국을 포함한 총 195개 국가가 참여해 합의한 협약
이다. 화석연료 배출 과정에서 나오는 이산화탄소 등 온실가스 사용을 규제해 2100년까지의 지구온난
화를 섭씨 2도 이내로 막는다는 내용이 담겼다.[데일리안 = 스팟뉴스팀]
