정부 유네스코 세계유산위에서 日 군함도 약속 이행 촉구
21개 위원국 중 12개국, 지지 또는 동조 발언...日 사토 대사, "세계유산위 권고사항 존중, 약속 이행해
나갈 것"

정부는 최근 개최된 세계유산위원회에서 일본에 ‘군함도’ 등 근대산업시설 세계유산 등재 관련 약속 이
행을 촉구했다고 외교부가 13일 밝혔다.
외교부는 지난 2~12일 폴란드에서 열린 제41차 유네스코 세계유산위원회에서 근대산업시설 세계유산
등재 관련 약속 이행을 위한 구체적인 후속 조치를 취할 것을 일본에 적극 촉구했으며, 이에 21개 위원
국 중 12개국이 지지 또는 동조 발언을 했다고 설명했다.
일본 측 수석대표인 사토 쿠니 주유네스코대사는 “일본 정부는 제39차 세계위원회 권고사항을 존중한
다”며 “올해 12월 1일까지 제출해야 할 이행경과보고서 작성을 위해 국가보존위원회에서 해석전략을
준비하는 등 인포메이션센터 설치를 포함한 적절한 조치를 마련하겠다는 약속을 이행해 나갈 것”이라
고 밝혔다.
이번 회의기간 중 우리 대표단은 학술 세미나를 개최하고, 과거 전쟁·식민 지배로 파괴된 유산 복원 과
정에서의 유산 해석의 의미를 재조명했다.
5일 ‘세계유산과 평화 : 유산 복원과 해석’을 주제로 열린 세미나에서 최종문 다자외교조정관은 “지난
2015년 일본의 근대산업시설 유산 등재시 일본이 한국인을 포함한 희생자를 기리는 적절한 조치를 취
하기로 약속했다”며 “이번 세미나를 통해 유산 복원과 해석에 대한 교훈과 시사점을 얻기를 기대한
다”고 언급했다.
한편, 이번 세계유산위원회에서는 총 33건에 대한 등재심사가 이루어졌으며, 문화유산 18건 및 자연유
산 3건 등 총 21 건이 새롭게 세계유산에 등재됐다.
이번에 새로 등재된 유산을 포함, 현재 세계유산은 문화유산 832건, 자연유산 206건 및 복합유산 35건
등 총 167개국의 1,073건이다.(Konas)
